Mikhail Yurievich Gorshenev

Mikhail Yurievich Gorshenev was born on August 7, 1973 in the city of Pikalevo, Leningrad Region, USSR.
he is also known as Gorshok, a Soviet and Russian rock musician. He is also the founder, one of the two frontmen and vocalists (together with Andrey Knyazev) of the punk rock band “Korol and Shut”.
Together with classmates Alexander Balunov and Alexander Shchigolev, he founded the group “Kontora” in 1988. In 1989, Gorshok invited Andrei Knyazev to the group as a lyricist and second vocalist. Due to the fact that the texts were highlighted by fairy-tale motifs, the group began to be called “The King of the Jesters”, later “The King and the Jester”.

In 2010, he became interested in theatrical and staging activities. In the process of work, the idea of creating a theatrical and musical project about a maniac — hairdresser Sweeney Todd was born. This is how the musical “TODD” was born, into which all the musicians of the “Korol i Shut” group gradually joined. The result of this was the release of the group’s new album, based on the material for the musical — “TODD. Act 1. Feast of Blood”, and later – “TODD. Act 2. On the edge.

Mikhail Gorsheniov died at the age of 40 on the night of July 18-19, 2013, in house number 5 on Ozerkovsky Avenue in St. Petersburg. The cause of death was toxic cardiomyopathy with the development of acute heart failure due to alcohol and morphine consumption.
